Exercise that Benefits Memory in Seniors

Good news published last month on what type of exercise is the best for maintaining or improving memory for seniors – turns out: any exercise.

The study researched senior adults performing exercises including strength training, high intensity aerobics, and balance and coordination training. The results of the study surprised many health experts, as they suggested that each exercise was equivalently beneficial.

This is great news for seniors who may view their exercise routine as a ‘chore’. If all exercise is great, then focusing on the exercise that you enjoy and will maintain is the clear winner.

So for all those health-conscious seniors enduring weight lifting reps or dragging their feet at the back of a weekly aerobics classes – put the weights down; reject the perky instructors. Go participate in healthy exercise you will enjoy. Do it for your brain!
