Senior-Friendly Christmas Events in Victoria

Yes, it is that time of the year already. Christmas in Victoria is in full swing. Here is a run down of all senior-friendly events happening this holiday season. Get your loved ones out of the house and into the Christmas spirit! 


Annual Festival of Trees 

  • November 21st – January 6th at THE BAY CENTRE 

  • Every year, local businesses decorate their own unique Christmas tree and you get to vote for your favourite one! 


Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Showcase 

  • November 16th – January 5th at THE PARKSIDE HOTEL & SPA

  • The theme for this year is “Building a Diverse Community.” Bakers from all levels of expertise create their own stunning gingerbread houses for this annual showcase. 


The Nutcracker with Ukrainian Dancers & The Victoria Symphony 

  • November 29th – December 1st at THE ROYAL THEATRE 

  • Friday 7:00 PM / Saturday 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM / Sunday 1:00 PM

  • This classic performance is brought to life through Ukrainian traditions, dance, and symbols. Tickets range from $49-$105. 


Island Farms Santa’s Light Parade 

  • November 30th at CENTENNIAL SQUARE

  • 4:00 – 8:00 PM

  • If you’re a fan of Christmas lights, be sure to catch this one. The parade begins at 5:00 PM on Government and Belleville Street. Bundle up! 

Winter Veranda

  • November 16th – December 23rd at THE FAIRMONT EMPRESS

  • Fridays to Sundays 4:00 PM to close

  • Overlooking the dazzling lights on the inner harbour, enjoy a hot beverage and Christmas treat around the fire on the veranda. There are no reservations, availability is walk-in only. 


Christmas at The Royal BC Museum 

  • November 22nd – January 9th at THE ROYAL BC MUSEUM 

  • Experience the sights and sounds of Christmas in Old Town. Father Christmas will be there himself for a picture.  

Christmas Light Up at Butchart 

  • December 1st – January 6th at THE BUTCHART GARDENS 

  • 5:00 PM 

  • Every year The Butchart Gardens is transformed into a winter wonderland. Experience the first light up of the holiday season in front of the Rose Carousel. Other festivities include ice skating, gingerbread, hot cocoa, and of course the lights. 

Christmas Lights of Canada 


  • 6:00 PM

  • If you’re wondering around downtown, head to the parliament building to celebrate the lighting of the Provincial Christmas tree. Outside there will be festive performances and inside Christmas treats. 

British Comedy: ‘Christmas Tea’

  • December 8th at THE ROYAL THEATRE

  • 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM

  • Award-winning comedians, James & Jamesy are back in Victoria with another comedy special. 

Lights of Wonder

  • December 13th – December 30th 

  • Sunday to Thursday 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM / Friday and Saturday 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM

  • Light displays, festive tree, live entertainment, outdoor exhibits, and interactive light tunnels. Downtown Victoria is transforming into a winter wonderland and admission is FREE. 

Christmas Dinner Show

  • December 22nd – December 24th at THE OAK BAY BEACH HOTEL

  • 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM

  • The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is providing dinner and a show. Enjoy a mix of comedy, music, cocktails, and a three-course dinner.


“The Gift” by Ballet Victoria 

  • December 27th – December 29th at THE ROYAL THEATRE 

  • Friday 7:30 PM / Saturday 2:00 PM / Sunday 2:00 PM

  • Each year Ballet Victoria is accompanied by the Victoria Symphony to perform a modern take on The Nutcracker, filled with new characters.
